Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16, 1977, in New Zealand. She is well-known for her distinctive, soft-spoken and headstrong roles. She is primarily involved in films that are independent. She's won an award from the New Zealand Film Award as along with an Hollywood Film Award as well as a Sundance Special Jury Award. Lynskey made her debut in film as a teenage murderess , in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, Lynskey built a successful career as a support actor in numerous large and small-budget films including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014), They Came Together (2014) and Don't be distracted (2021). Lynskey was nominated for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and was praised by critics for her role as a divorced, depressed woman in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). It was a pivotal moment in her career. The subsequent lead roles she played in were Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes, I Don't Feel at In This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), as well as Lady of the Manor (both 2018) made her an important player within the American independent film industry. Outside of the film industry, Lynskey achieved fame with her role as Rose on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). From 2015 until 2016she was a character on Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness and was nominated for the 2015 Critics Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress.
