Milena Govich

Milena Govich, who is a director as well as an actor and musician has directed numerous episodes on TV including Chicago Med (2015), The Equalizer (2021), FBI The Most Wanted(2020), Chicago Fire (2012), and others. She was also the Co-EP/Producing Director on Dick Wolf's CBS series FBI (2018) and has been tapped to direct two pilots in the process of development. Milena was one of eight women selected by AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop for Women. She also took part in the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors program. Unspeakable the short film she created, as well as a television show proof of concept was shown at SXSW. It also received Best Episodic at the Seattle International Film Festival, and Best Pilot at SoHo International Film Festival. The short film Temporary (2017, by Milena Vandervoort) has been screened across the country. It was awarded the Best Narrative Short at Anthem Film Festival and Best Dark Comedy at Atlanta ShortsFest. The Director's Choice Award was also presented at the Sedona International Film Festival. Milena has appeared as an actor in over 100 television series. She first gained national attention in CBS's Love Monkey (2006), then as the prostitute/con-artist Candy on three seasons of Rescue Me (2004) (Denis Leary/FX). Conviction (2006), the Dick Wolf series, was her second big role. It culminated in her being named the Emmy-winning female detective on Law & Order (1990). She has been featured or reprised on a variety of other television shows including K-Ville (2007) (Fox); The Defenders (2010) (CBS); Make It or Break It (2009) (ABC Family) as well as on the show Finding Carter as Lori Stevens on the MTV drama Finding Carter (2014). Milena was also seen in a variety of films, including Sordid Things (2008); A Novel Romance (2011) in which she starred alongside Steve Guttenberg; Pass the Light (2015) and #Lucky Number (2015). She has also appeared on stage with Method Man. Milena is a Norman, Oklahoma native. After being valedictorian of her high school she then went further to get two majors in vocal performances and premed with minors in violin and dance at the University of Central Oklahoma. She benefited from her classical ballet training soon after to make her Broadway debut in the Rob Marshall/Sam Mendes production "Cabaret" at Studio 54.
