Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is the host of the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond locks and a lively personality, explains how to cook restaurant-style dishes at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell has worked and studied at the top New York restaurants. He also battled Iron Chef America and the food scene of Italy. While growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for food and cooking at a young age. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America student. I loved every minute of it." It was hard to study and do enough or put in the hours. Following graduation, Burrell spent one year studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working at Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. The chef gained an understanding of Italian culture and cuisine while in Italy and this has affected her cooking style. Burrell was an Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to enhance the lives of children facing challenges. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of children's diabetes. As an inspirational speaker, she travels across the nation to speak about her passion for food as well as her career in the culinary field. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel so lucky to be able to share my passion in life with others.
